Sway Control for 2005 Honda Pilot That Cant Use a Weight Distribution System
Question:
I have a 2005 Honda Pilot 4WD with a factory tow hitch including a trans cooler. I am planning on towing a 2017 Airstream Basecamp camping trailer. The trailer weight is 2600lbs/tongue weight 410lbs. The vehicle towing weight limit is 3500lbs/tongue weight limit is 450lbs. I do have a brake controller. Honda prohibits a weight distribution hitch but I want to install a sway bar. What do you recommend and are there any hidden problems I should be aware of?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Our most popular sway bar is the Reese # 83660. I definitely recommend it to keep your trailer from swaying. It's a great, cost-effective solution when a weight distribution system isn't an option.
For the ball mount bracket you can use # RP26003 and for a hitch ball # 63845.
I've linked a video that should eliminate any surprises for you.
