Recommended Weight Distribution System For 21 Foot Travel Trailer

Question:

Im buying a 21 Ft. travel trailer. GVWR is 7430 lbs. Dry weight is 5040 lbs. Hitch weight is 430 lbs. I will be towing it with a 2016 Ford F150 4 door 4x4 V8. Which Husky Centerline would work best for this set up, and why? Thank You in advance for your expert advice.

Weight distribution systems are calculated off of total loaded tongue weight. This loaded tongue weight includes your loaded trailer as well as any cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle because it functions as added tongue weight. With that in mind, the typical tongue weight of a trailer is 10-15% of the total trailer weight. That will put you on the high end maxed out capacity around 1115 with no additional cargo behind the rear axle.

Based on this, the Husky Center Line Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - Trunnion - 12,000 lbs GTW, 1,200 lbs TW # HT32218 is my recommendation. It will fit systems between 800 and 1200 lbs total tongue weight. If you find with your trailer loaded that your tongue weight is well under the 800 lbs, then I recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control - Trunnion - 10,000 lbs GTW, 1,000 lbs TW # FA92-00-1000 with a max tongue weight of 1000 lbs. With this system I recommend hitch ball # 63840 for a 2-5/16 inch ball. Unfortunately there is not a Husky Centerline System like you desire for that weight range, so the Fastway is a really great alternative.
