Recommendation for a Hitch and Bike Rack to Fit a 2015 BMW X5

Question:

Hi I have been told that we cannot use a bike rack due to the roof spoiler and the only option is to be a tow bar fitted and then have a rack that attaches to that at a cost of £3k! Is there a suitable bike rack? We are looking to transport 2 x 24inch bikes over short distances only max 30 miles every other weekend or so, so Im not really up for spending £3k for the privilege! Hope you can help!

For a 2015 BMW X5, I recommend the Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Receiver Hitch, # 75600. This Draw-Tite hitch is custom-fit for the X5 and has the 2 x 2 inch receiver opening.

The hitch will install to existing mounting holes already on the car. No drilling will be necessary.

I recommend the Thule Camber Bike Rack, # TH9058, on a 2015 BMW X5. The Thule rack allows you to carry two bikes with a total weight capacity of 70 lbs. The rack tilts away from the vehcle to allow you to access the rear hatch and can have a locking hitch pin added using # THSTL2.

If you will be carrying any step-thru bike frames like is seen on the majority of women's bikes, then I recommend the Thule Bike Adapter Bar, # TH982XT. This adapter bar will allow you a horizontal mounting surface for step-thru bikes to be mounted on hanging bike racks.
