If you already have a 4-way connector installed on your 2006 Dodge Ram, you will just need to add the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7 to install the required 7-way connector and activate the brake controller harness in your truck.
Once installed, you will be ready to install a trailer brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 along with the custom plug-in harness # 3020-P, which will plug directly into the port you mentioned in your question. On your Dodge Ram, the factory installed blue wire (brake) does not run all the way back to the 4-pole at the rear of the vehicle, and it instead stops at the connector that is located under the driver's side wheel well. I recommend cutting the blue wire from the 3020-P at the end that plugs into the truck and use the ETBC7 wiring to go from that blue wire to the blue wire on the ETBC7, effectively bypassing the factory connection - but just for the blue wire. This will allow the brake signal to get from the controller to the 7-Way.
The Prodigy P2 is a great proportional brake controller that will activate your trailer's brakes at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in your truck. It features a nice digital display and continuous diagnostics that will alert you to any potential issues. This particular unit is well known for its reliability and ease of installation.
I have attached the installation details and a demonstration video on your truck for you to check out.
