Wiring a 4- to 7-Way Adapter to a Brake Controller and 2007 Jeep Liberty
Question:
I was told my trailer had no brakes. found out different when under trailer. just installed your c55382 and c57674 last week. site says I need etbc7 and 4-way to install the brake controller. do I uninstall parts from last weeks work and start over?

It actually depends on how you have the 4- to 7-Way # C57674 installed but no, you will not have to remove either of the parts. I am assuming that you have grounded the 7-Way but the other wires you are not using. To make the 7-Way fully functional I recommend wiring kit # 5506 which comes with additional duplex wire, circuit breakers, ring terminals, and butt connectors to complete the installation.
The only other part you will need is a brake controller. I recommend the P2 # 90885 because it is easy to set up and use and it is reliable. I recommend it over any time delay controller reason being time delay controllers send back the same amount of pre-set power to the trailer brakes no matter what the baking situation is. They also require a lot of fine tuning. A proportional controller like the P2 will apply the trailer brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking which reduces wear and tear on the tow vehicle and trailer.
To help with the installation you can follow the relevant parts of the ETBC7 instructions I have linked for you.
