Recommended Surge Brake Coupler For Disc Brakes With Electric Lockout
Question:
I have an 85778 but disc brakes. Is the 84132 a suitable replacement? Do I need the solenoid kit separately to enable automatic reverse brake release?

The best replacement for your coupler for disc brakes is the Dexter Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator w/ Electric Lockout - Disc - Adjustable Ball - 7,000 lbs # T47457207K. This has the electric lockout built in for free backing so you need to only shift into reverse for this lockout to engage and allow you to backup without trailer brakes. It has a master cylinder designed for disc brakes that require a much higher pressure than drum brakes.
The Atwood Actuator you asked about is not for disc brake use and has been discontinued by the manufacturer.
