Trailer Wiring Recommendation for 2011 Ford Escape
Question:
Hi Expert, can you please tell me whether I can use the curt 56130 on my 2011 ford escape this item is for universal fit and it does not have a wire on the converter to connect to the battery so that makes it easier. I know etrailer does not carry this item. I know that etrailer has the custom fit for the escapes Just give me your expert advise about the curt 56130. Thank you and I appreciate what you will be telling me.

Not all vehicles can handle the additional amperage draw of the trailer taillights on the vehicle taillight circuits. Those vehicles need setup that draws power from the battery. Some vehicles have higher rated circuits that can handle this, and others need to have the power drawn straight from the battery to protect the taillight circuits.
Your 2011 Ford Escape needs a trailer wiring setup that draws power from the battery so I would not recommend the harness you mentioned. Instead I would recommend the Tekonsha part # 118551 which is a confirmed fit. It does require running a wire up to the vehicle battery though. I attached a help article that covers a couple ways to pull that off as well.
