If you use the install harness part # 3050-P when you install the Tekonsha brake controller # 39510 you wouldn't need to try and tap into the stoplight circuit at any point. It does this for you. Also, all versions of your 2008 Pathfinder are compatible with this connector so it will work.

This adapter plugs into the 6-pin connector on your vehicle's built-in brake control wiring harness. The harness is located underneath the dash, to the left of the steering column, taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal.
