Hitch, Ball Mount, Hitch Ball & Wiring Harness for 2008 Lexus IS 250

Question:

Morning! I just purchased a 14foot Jon boat with trailer for my Lexus IS250 AWD. Manuel says NO towing but I’ve surfed the internet enough to see people have towed many toys with their IS250. You have the Curt hitch assembly available but it’s only a 1.25” receiver and my trailer is 2”. You have many adapters available but I’m curious on which is the best option to keep the tongue short? I’m worried with the adapter it will be extended too far and force too much stress. Thank you in advance!

The aftermarket trailer hitch offered for your 2008 Lexus IS 250 is a light-duty Class I type that is rated to tow up to 2000-lbs, Curt # C11372. Your vehicle manufacturer will specify in the owner's manual whether or not the vehicle is recommended for towing. When a car that is NOT rated to tow still has an available trailer hitch made for it this is to allow for other non-towing applications like use of a compatible Class I hitch-mounted bike or cargo carrier, such as Curt bike rack # C18085 or cargo carrier # C18110.

If your trailer has a 2-inch ball coupler you will need a 2-inch hitch ball on your ball mount. The ball mount Curt recommends for your IS 250 is part # C45521. With this you could use 2-inch ball # A-82 or 1-7/8-inch ball # A-80. Just check the trailer coupler for the hitch ball size it requires; this should be stamped into the coupler housing. You will not need an adapter to use this ball mount in this Curt hitch.

You will also need a 4-pole wiring harness for the trailer's lights. You can use kit # C59236 from Curt. This harness will provide stop, turn and taillight signals for the trailer.
