On most of the Geo Tracker models the plug is located behind the storage unit on the driver's side rear of the vehicle. However, there were a few models where the jack was not stored at the rear of the vehicle, like your 1996 Geo Tracker.
In this case, the trailer wiring connection will be located behind one of the rear tail light assemblies, most likely the one on the driver's side, but it might be on the passenger's side as well. The attached picture will show you what the trailer connection wiring will look like.
Once you have found the harness, the Hopkins Trailer Wiring Harness, # HM41245 will connect your Tracker's harness.
