The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13132 will fit your 1992 GMC Sonoma truck as long as you have a factory step bumper. It will require temporary removal of the rear bumper during installation. It is not a fit for a roll pan bumper.
If you have a roll pan bumper, you will need to use the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 13920. This will require a relocation of the spare tire in short bed models as well as cutting the rollpan in license plate area for access to receiver tube.
If you will be towing with this hitch or using a lighted accessory, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # HM41115. This will use a quick connection to to factory wiring that is located on the driver's side along the frame rail.
For a ball mount I recommend the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches - 7,500 lbs # 989900. This comes with the different hitch ball sizes of 2 inch or 1-7/8 inch along with two draw bars with different rise and drop, and the pin and clip to hold it in your receiver. It also comes with a handy storage bag.
