Recommended Towing Setup For 2012 Honda CR-V
Question:
Hi, I have a tear trailer, which weighs approx 1000lbs. I am planning to haul it with my 2012 CR-V. Will this hitch be adequate to haul approx. 1000 lbs? What is the max towing load/capacity for the hitch. The description on the website is a little confusing for me being a newbee in this area. The website says: 4500 lbs GTW and 675 lbs TW ???? Thanks for the help.

Your 2012 Honda CR-V has a towing Capacity of 1500 lbs. The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 75742 is rated much higher than that, but is a confirmed fit for your vehicle. It will not increase your vehicle's towing capacity, but the 2 inch receiver will give you more options for accessories. This hitch will allow you to tow your tear trailer without issue.
For your trailer wiring, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118561. I've attached a video of this installation for you. This wiring harness will connect to factory wiring connections behind the side interior panels on each side of the cargo area.
For a ball mount, I recommend the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches - 7,500 lbs # 989900. This will give you two drawbars with different rise or drop. You will also have two hitch ball sizes of 1-7/8 or 2 inches to match your trailer's coupler. I've attached an article to assist in ball mount choice.
