Question:
I am looking for a kit that I dont need to splice into the existing wiring. Hopkins has a kit for other Ford vehicles, but not an Explorer. Please advise.

We do have a plug-in trailer wiring harness that will work with your 2012 Ford Explorer.
I recommend the T-One harness, part # 118540. This harness plugs into your Ford Explorer's wiring harness, which is located beneath the rear of your vehicle, on the passenger's side. I have attached a link to an installation video for this harness you can check out.
To secure the trailer connector you can use a mounting bracket like part # 18144, or for a no-drill option you can use part # 18140.
When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
