Wiring Harness for a 2017 Ford Edge SEL to Tow a Trailer and to be Towed Behind a Motorhome
Question:
I have a 2017 ford edge sel, i have been searching your site trying to find a trailer wiring harness that works for both if the vehicle is being towed behind my motor home or if i am pulling a trailer with the ford edge, i found the hopkins harness # hm56011 which works if the ford is the towed towed vehicle but not if your using the ford as the tow vehicle. Thanks

The wiring harness that you need to tow a trailer with your 2017 Ford Edge SEL (or for any vehicle for that matter) will be different than the harness that you will need to be able to tow your Edge behind your motorhome.
The Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit # HM56011 that you mentioned will not fit your Edge. Instead you need to use magnetic lights like the Pilot # NV-5164. Your battery does need to be disconnected which will require two 50 ohm, 10 watt resistors so that the taillight circuit works correctly. The Quick Battery Disconnect # RM-766 can also be installed to make disconnecting your battery much easier.
You will want to use the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118669 from Tekonsha to add a 4-Way wiring harness to the rear of your Edge so you can connect the light functions for your trailer. For a No-Drill mounting bracket you can use either part # C57202 or part # 18140 if you did not want to drill into your trailer hitch.
