Recommended Autosliding 5th Wheel Hitch Or Sidewinder Pin Box Replacement For 2016 Ford F-250 6-3/4

Question:

1999 Jayco Designer 5th wheel camper. It has a Leland AF 7900 pin box. Truck is a 2016 Ford F250 Super Crew. Bed measures approximately 6foot 10inch from front to tailgate. Currently has Reese30047 16k hitch. Ive added a Youngs Pop Up RV5 10 inch pin extender. Its still not enough to make a tight turn. I considered a Pullrite 2700, but their tech guys say its too close to call as to whether it would get me the clearance I need. They say their 2300 will work but its about $600 more than the 2700. Even with the RV5 extender, the pin position is still approximately 13 1/2 inches in from the leading edge of the camper nose. Im looking for a solution to get me the clearance I need to make tight turns with this truck/trailer combination. Auto sliding would be ideal, to keep from exiting the truck all the time during maneuvering the trailer. Your help is greatly appreciated.

For an Autoslide Hitch compatible with your 2016 Ford F-250, I recommend the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider - Single Jaw - Above Bed - 18,000 lbs # DM8550034. This hitch will work with any industry standard rails and will give you 14 inches of travel from front to back. This will allow you to drive without needing to jump out to adjust a slider and still provide you with adequate clearance.

If you want to keep your current hitch, you can use a sidewinder to move the pivot point of your trailer to allow you the additional clearance. According to my contact at Reese the Leland 7900 pin box has the same measurements as the 7910. But it is always a good idea to check just to be on the safe side. If your pin box has the following measurements then the Sidewinder Fifth Wheel King Pin with Rotating Turret by 5th Airborne, 16K # ST400-5AS16K will fit:

Distance from first row of bolt holes to last row on center - 7 inches
Distance vertically from one bolt hole to another on center - 1-1/2 inches
Bolt size - 1/2 inch bolts
Bolt head size - 3/4 inch
Bolts per side - 6
Center of first row of bolt holes to center of king pin - 21 or 9 inches
Center of back row of bolt holes to center of king pin - 28 or 16 inches
Pin box width - 14 inches

I have included a link to a couple of help articles that should also help.
