Reese Strait-Line Trunnion Bar Weight Distribution System for a 2012 Ram 2500 and XLR 27HFS

Question:

Hello, I have an 2012 ram 2500 quad cab diesel s/b and Im looking to purchasing a xlr 27hfs. Is this the hitch I want? I see the reviews and it seems to be one of the better ones. This will be my longest and tallest trailer I have towed and very nervous on the sway factor. And is this kit complete minus the ball? Or are there multiple pcs that are not included?

The Reese Strait-Line systems including # RP66084 are among the best that you can get for weight distribution and sway control and I recommend them more often than not. This particular model is rated for 600 to 1,200 pounds tongue weight. So if the total tongue weight when loaded and ready to tow is within that range then you are good to go with this system after adding ball # 19286. The included shank has a max rise of 6-1/2 inches and max drop of 1-1/4 inches. Other shanks are available separately if more rise or drop is needed.

Keep in mind that when choosing a weight distribution system you will need to go by the total tongue weight of the set up. This is calculated by taking the tongue weight of the trailer, when loaded and ready to tow, and adding to that the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.
