Recommended Aftermarket Trailer Brake Controller for 2008 Silverado 1500
Question:
My 2008 Silverado 1500 came with the tow package and 7pin connector, as well as the trailer tow mode button on shift lever. Will my truck accept the AC Delco OEM controller #15926102? It looks like it might plug into the little coin cubby in the dash. Or will i have to buy an aftermarket controller?

We do not offer OEM brake controllers so I cannot guarantee fit and compatibility of the OEM part in your vehicle. But since most owners of factory controllers end up replacing them with a superior aftermarket unit anyway, I suggest you save yourself the hassle and expense of trying a factory unit. These typically cost more and work less well than many of the popular aftermarket units like the Tekonsha Prodigy Series. The P2 # 90885 and P3 # 90195 offer better compatibility with different trailer braking systems and they have proven to be very reliable. They also tend to be easier to set-up and operate.
In your truck you will follow the installation steps outlined in the linked article. The wires you need to install the aftermarket controller are already run under the left side of the instrument panel. The article details the installation process including wiring connection. An install video is included for you.
