Parts to Add 5-Pole Wiring to 2014 Nissan Murano Cross Cabriolet for Boat Trailer Surge Coupler

Question:

I have a 2014 Murano Cross Cabriolet that I want to add a trailer light kit to. The boat I will be hauling has a five pin connector. Apparently the fifth wire is to lock out the surge brakes when backing up. I only see 4 pin options listed on your site.

You can use the Curt 4-pole wiring harness kit # C59236 along with 5-pole adapter # 20036 since there is no 5-pole kit for your 2014 Nissan Murano Cross Cabriolet. All you need to do is plug in the adapter to the 4-pole and run the additional wire to your Murano reverse light wiring to access the signal that will lock out your trailer's surge coupler.

If you need a circuit tester to find the reverse light wire you can use an item like # PTW2993, shown in the linked video. This will allow you to test the wires at the taillights while a helper shifts the vehicle into reverse. Be sure to have the emergency brake engaged while you test.
