Replacement Head and Spring Bar Recommendation for Older Reese Strait Line System

Question:

Gentlemen: I have an older Draw-Tite/Reese Weight Distributing Hitch with the original Dual Cam Sway Control and 1000 lb bars. Im trying to find a replacement hitch head and trunnions that will work with this system. The head unit has the locking latches for the bars at the top of the unit and the trunnion holders are slotted for removal from the top. The bottom turnnion holders are not slotted. The bars are 1 1/4inch square at the trunnon and about 28inch long. The trunnions are about 4 1/4inch tall. Is there a replacement head available and possible trunnions or bars that I can use? Thank you.

I'd highly recommend replacing the spring bars as well as the weight distribution head. The bars are under a tremendous amount of strain, and when they're worn, their weight bearing capabilities could be negatively affected.

Reese no longer makes a 1000 lb capacity round bar. You'll want to go with either the # 58338 1200 lb bar or the # RP58114 for 800 lb bars, depending on your fully loaded and ready to tow tongue weight. The bars are sold individually. For a weight distribution head, use part # RP58112.
