For a trailer hitch for your 2009 Acura MDX, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch, # 13354, as it is one of our most popular hitches for that vehicle. This is a Class III trailer hitch with a 2 inch receiver opening. It has a tongue weight capacity of 400 pounds and gross trailer weight capacity of 4,000 pounds. For a 4 bike rack, I recommend the Yakima RidgeBack 4 Bike Hitch Mounted Tilting Rack, # Y02458. This rack comes with anti-sway cradles that prevent the bikes from rocking back and forth. it also features ZipStrip straps and it has the ability to tilt down away from the vehicle so you will be able to open the rear hatch.
You may also need Yakima Tube Top Bike Adapter Bar, # Y02531, for any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that is parallel to the ground. I have included installation details and a video review of this adapter as well.
