Trailer Hitch and Brake Controller Recommendation fro 2011 BMW X5
Question:
hello - Im interested in adding a draw-tite hitch to my 2011 X5 5.0 truck. What else do I need in addition to the hitch and oem plastic rivets? A brake controller? I will be trailering a 5000lb boat/trailer. Other wiring? The truck did not come with a hitch obviously so Im assuming its not factory prepped for wiring. Thanks!

To install the Draw Tite hitch part # 75600 in your 2011 BWM X5 all you need to additionally provide is the rivets from a BMW dealer like you mentioned. I attached an install video for you to check out as well.
You will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # 119250KIT.
From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # 37185. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well. All you need to do is connect the black wire of this adapter to the positive post of your battery through a circuit breaker like part # 9510 using 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1.
For a brake controller you will need the RF part # TK94FR since your vehicle is difficult to hardware a brake controller to.
