Hitch Receiver Extension and Reducer for Towing a Trailer with a Truck Camper
Question:
I have a 2012 Silverado 3500HD with 4000lbs payload. My truck camper weighs 2500lb. and extends beyond the bed length. It has a 2 1/2inch receiver. Which extension should I be using for this application?

There's a couple of ways you can do this. Which way is better will depend on the amount of extension you need.
One is to use an extension, like the Curt # C45048 which will give you an extra 24 or 34 inches. Then you will use a ball mount in the extension that also reduces your hitch to a 2 inch receiver.
Another is to use a reducer in the 2-1/2 inch receiver. The Curt reducer # C45405 will work for this. Then get a long ball mount like the Brophy # BH20 that is 13-1/4 inches from the hitch pin hole to the ball hole.
