Recommended Trailer Hitch And 4-Bike Hitch Mounted Carrier For 2017 Acura MDX

Question:

I have a 2017 Acura MDX, two young kids currently only my 5 year olds bike to carry: islabikes-age-4/, a step-thru ebike that weighs 45# gazelle-arroyo, and a mens bike. Can you recommend which hitching post and 4 bike rack would work best? So far, Ive looked at the Thule Hitching Post Pro and the class II and III Draw Tite hitch receiver part # 36298 and e98840 along with 2 adapter bars one for the kids bike and one for the step-thru ebike. Thanks in advance for your advice!

The trailer hitch I recommend for your 2017 MDX is part # e98840. This is a Class lll hitch and it has a 2-inch receiver opening.

I do have a bike carrier that may work well for you. I did some research on your e-bike and could not find the wheelbase dimensions.

The bike carrier I recommend is the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE, part # HR1400Z. This 4-bike carrier has a weight capacity of 50-lbs per bike, and can be converted to a 2-bike carrier if needed. The carrier will work with bikes that have a wheelbase up to 60-inches, and tires up to 3-inches wide. The carrier has telescoping hooks that attach to the frame of the bikes. The carrier comes with a hitch lock that secures the carrier to the vehicle and locks in the ratchet arms that secure the bikes in the rack.

To secure the step-through bike you can use an adapter like part # 64005 that attaches to the seat post and the handlebar stem.
