Solenoid Recommendation for Allowing Charge Line for Breakaway Kit to Only See Power When Key is On
Question:
On my flatbed trailer I have a battery that powers my winch only. The 7 pin connector is only hot when the truck is running that is good I picked up power from the lead going to the breakaway battery for maintaining the winch battery it all works fine but the light on the breakaway battery is always showing charging so I believe it is getting power from the main trailer/winch battery even when the power lead is pulled from the small breakaway battery it shows charging. Will your isolator wired between the winch battery and the breakaway battery solve the problem? PS I am not worried about anything drawing power from the main battery in the truck because the 7pin is not hot when it is turned off

Expert Reply:
Yes, the Isolator part # RM-690 that you referenced would be exactly what you need.
This will allow current to flow in one direction and not backfeed on the circuit.
