Troubleshooting Wiring For Prodigy P2 Brake Controller
Question:
Hi From the brake controller i have the white going to batt earth trough curcuit breaker,red and blue to rear of car, my question is when i connect the red wire to the brake wire in the plug the lights stay on, there is power going thru the wire what could be going wrong.

The blue wire at the back of the brake controller is connected to the brake pin on the trailer connector. The White wire should be run to the negative battery post and does not require a circuit breaker. The Black wire should be attached to the positive battery post, and it does use a 30-amp circuit breaker like part # 38630 inline.
The red wire at the back of the brake controller is attached to the cold side of the stoplight switch located at the top of your brake pedal under the dash. The cold side of the switch is the side that only shows power when the brake pedal is pressed. You can use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to test the wires and the switch to make sure it is installed correctly.
I have attached a drawing that shows how the wiring is run when you install a brake controller.
