Recommended Weight Distribution System for 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited And Pop Up Camper

Question:

I have a 2016 Jeep wrangler unlimited. Its rated at 350 hitch weight and 3500 tow. Im buying a pop up camper that has a hitch weight of 302 including battery and filled propane tank. The pop up has a dry weight of 2250. I figure I will be adding about 400lbs at most in the camper so that puts me around 2650 total. So my question is do I or should I use a WD system and sway control or both or Im I good to go? I already have a brake control installed . Thanks

On your 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, you do not need to use a weight distribution system for this application, but you will appreciate using one. The sway control is the biggest benefit. The best system for sway control and what I recommend for this application is the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w Sway Control - Trunnion Bar - 10,000 lbs GTW, 600 lbs TW # RP66082. You will need your total tongue weight including your loaded trailer tongue weight and any cargo behind the rear axle of your Jeep to be a combined weight under 600 lbs. The Dual Cam and hot rolled steel trunnion bars work amazingly well to keep sway from happening versus trying to control it when it does.

You will need a hitch ball like # A-6 or # BWHB94050 depending on the size of your coupler.
