Is Locking Plate Required for Rota-Flex Pin Box Used with Demco 18K Autoslider 5th Wheel Hitch

Question:

I will be towing a 2017 Grand Design Solitude 300GK with a 2017 Dodge RAM 2500 Diesel short bed with the factory 5th wheel hitch prep package. I believe Demco DM8550034 and DM6099 is my best choice. Tell me if Im wrong. A couple of questions: 1 Will I need to drill holes in the bed for the outrigger bar? 2 Will I need to buy a locking plate in addition to the rail adapter because this RV comes with a Rota Flex TrailAir pinbox? Thanks.

This slider provides 14-inches of additional turning clearance, more than most, and it is USA-made.

The outrigger bar does not require drilling into the truck bed; it rests on top of the bed. Locking plates are required for use with certain cushioned pin boxes such as the Glide Ride, Mor Ryde, Trailair Tri Glide, and 5th Airborne, but none is required for your Rota-Flex.
