Recommendation for Least Visible Trailer Hitch on 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon

Question:

For a 2017 Outback, which would be the best trailer hitch thats the most hidden, but still easily accessible? Would it be the DrawTite or the Curt? 2inch opening as well. Thanks,

Both the Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Receiver Hitch # 75673 and the Curt Class III Round Tube Receiver Hitch # C13206 are both great options for a Class III trailer hitch on your 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon. Both have the same 600 pound tongue weight capacity and 4,000 pound towing weight capacity.

The Draw-Tite # 75673 is going to be a bit less noticeable on your vehicle because it sits back more from the rear bumper than the Curt, but you will still have no problem accessing the receiver. The distance from the center of the pin hole to the outer most edge of the bumper is 5 inches. This measurement on the Curt trailer hitch is only 2-1/2 inches, which means that it will stick out a bit more. Other than that measurement, both trailer hitches will look and mount about the same under your Subaru.

I have attached installation videos for both of these trailer hitches on a 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon for you to check out.

Another thing to keep in mind if you are considering the Curt hitch is that Curt does require that all non-trailer loads like bike racks and cargo carriers be supported by a stabilizing strap, such as # 18050. Draw-Tite does not have this requirement with their trailer hitches.

If you are looking to tow, I recommend adding the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118467 to install a 4-way trailer connector. This will easily install by plugging directly into the Subaru's existing wiring.

For towing, you will also need a ball mount. I have included a link to our selection as well as a helpful article that will explain how to choose the correct one for your setup.
