Troubleshooting Wiring Harness On 2003 Toyota Tacoma

Question:

Hi I installed one of your plug in and go harnesses on my 03 Tacoma. The right side works fine. However, the left side blinker works fine when you arent blinking. When you blink the indicator light in the cab blinks like there is a bulb out. Not sure why its doing this. Thank you.

You can do a little troubleshooting to isolate the issue with the # 118379 wiring harness in your 2003 Tacoma.

Use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 and first test the wires going into the converter on the harness. If those check out, then check the wires coming out of the converter box. If the signals checkout okay going in but are bad coming out, the converter is bad, and the harness will need to be replaced.

You will need to find out what caused the converter to go bad. Check for any signs of a short in the wiring like bare wires touching metal or possibly corrosion in the connectors. Check the ground wires on the vehicle and at each of the lights.

One more possibility is too much amperage draw. The # 118379 is rated for 2.1 amps for the stop and turn lights and 4.2 amps for the running lights.
