Can 225/75-15 be Replaced with 235/85-16 Size Tire on Trailer

Question:

CAN I GO FROM A ST 225/75/15 D MARATHON TO A PROVIDER ST 235/85/16 E IF I CHANGE THE RIMS ON MY FITHWHEEL OR WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN SIZE OF TIRES

The overall diameter with a 235/85-16 will be 3.2 inches taller than a 225/75-15. Since the additional diameter is split on either side of the hub that means you would have 1.6 inches less fender clearance. The width difference would be one centimeter.

If you have an 8 lug wheel you would want the part # TTWA16RGWSHD which comes with a tire rated for 81 mph or if you have a 6 lug wheel you would want the part # AM32764.
