Availability of an Engine Oil Cooler Kit That is Compatible on a 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche 5.3L
Question:
I was trying to verify that one of your oil cooler systems was correct for my vehicle but I was unable to obtain that information. Every time I entered my vehicle information I was redirected to a generic page for my vehicle. I have a 2005 Avalanche and wanted to add an oil cooler to my vehicle. The one I was checking on was the Derale Atomic-Cool Remote Engine Oil Cooler Kit w/ Fan - Class V. Please help me to verify that this will work with my vehicle or find one that will, thanks.

The Derale Atomic-Cool Engine Oil Cooler Kit, # D15450, will fit the 5.3L engine in your 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche. The kit includes multiple sleeve nuts to fit the engine oil filter mount to mount the sandwich adapter in the kit.
However, installing the cooler and fan could be an issue that might give you the most trouble. The cooler will mount anywhere on your truck, but you will have to find the best location that will allow you enough room and hose length to install the cooler.
The Derale kit, # D15405, is a heavy duty plate-fin cooler that will mount in front of your vehicle's radiator. This kit is Class V rated like the kit # D15450. However, if mounting the Atomic Cool kit will seem to be an issue, then I recommend using kit, # D15405.
I have linked an article on engine oil coolers that will provide you with more information and as well as a diagram that explains the best location to install a cooler at the radiator.
