2 Inch Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2001 Ford F-250

Question:

I have a 2001 Ford F250 superduty with a Reese V-5 hitch that was on it when I purchased in 2007. The side plates are rusted and looking at above hitch. I was hoping to purchase side plates but you dont carry Reese. Will the BWHDRH25230 be a direct fit? The Reese has 8 bolts to the frame. The truck has the stock 235/85R16 tires. If this hitch doesnt work what will? I need a 2inch receiver and tow 7000GVW landscape trailers on a daily basis.

Reese, Draw-Tite, and Hidden Hitch are all the same manufacturer so if you wanted to stick with that brand you could use # 41922 which will fit a 2001 Ford F-250 with a standard/step bumper. It is rated for 10,000 pounds gross trailer weight (12,000 when used with weight distribution).

The B&W hitch # BWHDRH25230 will also fit models with the standard/step bumper. Since your truck has 16 inch tires and assuming the spare is the same or at least an 18 or smaller then you will not have to relocate the spare to install a hitch on your truck.

Since it sounds like you tow more than 1 trailer I recommend an adjustable ball mount which will allow you to tow trailers with different heights level. One fantastic option is Weigh Safe ball mount # WS6-2 which comes with a built-in tongue weight scale. It is aluminum with stainless steel balls. It has a max 6 inch drop or 7 inch rise.

Or you could go with a lower cost option such as # C45900 which has a max drop of 6 inches and max rise of 5-1/4 inches. I have included some links to videos of the ball mounts for you.

I am assuming since you have been towing with the truck that it already has a trailer connector on it. But if it needs a trailer connector and doesn't have a factory one already you can add a 4-Way using # 18252.
