Andersen Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection Hitch Compatibility With Safety Chain Puck Mounts
Question:
Do you know if the frame of the Andersen Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection 2, when installed over the gooseneck ball in a 2017 GMC 2500 pickup, will interfere with the installation of the Andersen Safety Chain kit which installs in the 2 rear pucks of the prep package? I know this has been a problem for some Ram owners and wonder if it is an issue with the new GMC 2500.

I reached out to Andersen and the Andersen Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection - Gooseneck to 5th Wheel Adapter # AM3225 will interfere with the 2 rear pucks of the prep package of your 2017 GMC 2500. They are working on a plate to help with this that should be out to manufacturing soon, however, my contact wanted me to pass on that there are not chains required for this hitch. It is a 5th wheel hitch, so chains are not required. He also let me know that chains can be used around the rear legs of the unit if desired.
You can use the Curt Ball and Safety Chain Loop Kit for Chevy, Ford, GM, and Nissan Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # C60692 along with a gooseneck adapter like the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter - 12" to 16" Tall - 20,000 lbs # CAB-C5G to work with your 5th wheel trailer.
