Availability of Trailer Hitch Pictures for a 2008 Pontiac G8 GT and Bike Rack Recommendation

Question:

Ive got a 2008 Pontiac G8 Gt with the GXP rear bumper/diffuser. Im needing a rear mounted bike rack for 2 or 4 bikes to fit a 1 1/4 hitch. I would like hitch to be as hidden as possible when not in use. Do you have any installed pics of the Draw-Tite # 24821? Great site by the way. I linked to this from a G8 forum.

We have not had the opportunity to take pictures of the Draw-Tite Class I Trailer Hitch, item # 24821, installed on a 2008 Pontiac G8 GT yet, but we do have pictures of the Curt Class I Trailer Hitch, item # C11138, installed on a Pontiac G8 GT. That's the picture I attached. The Draw-Tite is fairly similar but the crosstube sits back a little so it isn't as obvious.

In my opinion, if the GXP rear bumper/diffuser does not hang lower than the rear fascia on the G8 pictured on the # C11138, the Draw-Tite model would be much less visible than the Curt Trailer hitch. The swept back design of the hitch cross tube makes it much less visible.

If your rear fascia hangs down lower than the fascia on the G8 in our photos then modification of the fascia may be required.

Using a Class I trailer hitch, the only hitches available for your vehicle, limits you to two bikes because the capacity of the vehicle and hitch will not handle the added stress of the bikes farther away from the back of the vehicle. I recommend the Thule Camber, item # TH9058, (see video review) if you do not already have a bike rack that is compatible with a Class I trailer hitch.
