Brake Controller Recommendation for 2004 Chevy Suburban and 2004 Toyota 4Runner

Question:

I drive a 2004 Suburban 1500 with factory tow package and a 2004 4 runner with a factory tow package. I need a brake controller that I can swap between both of them. I prefer a proportional controller rattan than a time-delay. which controller and wireharnesses do I need? I will be towing a tent trailer mostly, and a boat or utility trailer on occasion.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes. It easily unplugs at the rear of the controller to allow you to swap it to a different vehicle.

To install this in your 2004 Toyota 4Runner you will need the connector part # 3040-P which attaches to the harness under the dash of the vehicle.

For the 2004 Chevy Silverado you will use the harness part # 3015-P.
