Does Power Wire of Trailer Wiring for 2015 Jeep Patriot Have to Run to Battery

Question:

Can I simply take power from the supplied red/black power wire tucked into the wiring bundle behind the grommet on the driver side of a 2015 Patriot versus running cable to the battery? I would have to splice in the fuse holder assembly of course but this could be a huge time saver. Please advise. Thanks,

Not all vehicles can handle the additional amperage draw of the trailer taillights on the vehicle taillight circuits. Those vehicles need setup that draws power from the battery. Some vehicles have higher rated circuits that can handle this, and others need to have the power drawn straight from the battery to protect the taillight circuits.

If you were to run the power wire of the # 118552 to anything but the battery you would void the warranty of the kit and would no longer have the circuit protection of drawing straight from the battery.
