Required Clearance between Tire and Frame to Install Lippert Bolt-On Shock Mount Kit to Fifth Wheel
Question:
How much clearance is required between the tire and frame to mount your 3inch shook kit on our 2008 Cougar fifth wheel?

Expert Reply:
For the Lippert Bolt-On Shock Mount Kit for 3" Axle Tubes referenced in your question, part # LC281281, the minimum clearance needed from the inside of the tire to the I-beam flange on your trailer's frame (which is needed to install the upper mounting bracket) is 4 inches. This kit will work great for your 2008 Cougar Fifth Wheel as long as it has the required clearance and has 3 inch axles. You will want to install them on each axle.
For 2-3/8 inch axle tubes, you can use # LC281255.
I have included an image of the installation instructions as well as a video review for you to check out.
