Will the Hayes Air Brake Control Be Compatible With a 2002 International 4400
Question:
Warner Air Utility Brake Control Code: 1300-80 Will this controller be compatible with a 2002 International 4400 with Air Brakes? I plan on pulling a 30foot BigTex trailer with tandem dual axels with electric brakes on both axels.

The Hayes Air Actuated Brake Control, # HA100400C, will work on your 2002 International 4400 truck as long as you have an air line connection and trailer connector to plug your trailer up to your truck.
You will need to wire the three wires coming out of the Warner controller as followed: BLACK is to 12-volt power, the RED will wire to the your brake light switch on your brake pedal, and the BLUE wire will wire into the 7-way connector to run the brake signal to the trailer when it is plugged in to the 7-way.
I recommend a more cost efficient option for your application. The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885, will allow you to operate the electric brakes on your Big Tex trailer just as efficiently as the Warner controller, but at a more economical cost.
The Prodigy P2 will connect the same as the Warner, with the exception of adding a WHITE ground wire. This brake controller can be mounted almost anywhere in the cab of the truck and will relay through the LED readout diagnostic information that the Warner controller does not. The Prodigy controller is proportional in its operation. Proportional means that with intensity of the trailer brakes will equal the intensity of the applied brakes on the tow vehicle.
If you do not have a 7-way installed in your International truck, then you will need to install the # ETBC7 kit. This kit will include that 7-way connector, wire, and hardware needed to install both the Prodigy P2 and the Warner controller.
I have linked demo videos of both the Prodigy P2 and Warner brake controllers and linked two articles. One on installing a brake controller starting from scratch and the other has info on the # ETBC7 kit.
