4-Pole Trailer Wiring Harness Options for 2017 Audi Q7 Prestige

Question:

Installed Curt receiver #13277 but the Curt electrical #55515 does not seem to be correct. A little research led me to this. Questions: 1. Is my Q7 pre-wired? IF so where do I find the rear connection? 2. Is this the part for me? Where can I see install instructions and v video? 3. Will this interfere with the foot-activated hatch open/close? I am unable to get much info from Audi - but did get the followi statement on their parts web site Alternatiie rear diffuser is required for installation of hitch on models equippped with foot-activated hands-free release.S-Line 4M0807434kRU6 non S-line:4M0807434KA8. ??? HELP PLEASE

The Curt hitch # C13277 is a confirmed fit on your 2017 Audi Q7 but the wiring harness # C55515 is not confirmed at this time. This harness does not fit any Audi models; it fits only U.S. vehicles that have an industry-standard round U.S. Car type connector, which is usually found under the rear bumper or tucked away behind the spare tire.

The correct 4-pole wiring harness options for your 2017 Q7 are Curt part # C59236 and Tekonsha # 119250KIT. The Curt is a hard-wired installation and the Tekonsha uses clip-on sensors instead of hardwiring. Both kits use a separate 12V power wire that runs to the car's battery to deliver the actual power to operate the trailer's lights. Installation videos for both kits are linked along with a helpful article with tips for routing that one wire that runs to the battery. Given that you have a new premium vehicle I suggest the Zero-Contact kit # 119250KIT. Since this completely bypasses the OEM systems, you will not need to visit the dealer for anything.

Hitch installation can affect operation of some of the sensors in an automatic lift gate system. This usually means no more than that you will need to use the outside sensors (not the ones in the center near the hitch) to activate this handy feature.

We have no experience with using the alternate diffusor part in a hitch installation on this vehicle so you might want to see how the lift gate works without it before deciding on that additional expense.
