How to Tow a Trailer that has a 5-Way Trailer Connector with 1984 Ford F-250 that has a 4-Way
Question:
I have inherited a 1984 F250 supercab. My dad installed a 4-flat harness on it. I am buying a new boat with a 5 flat harness and surge breaks. What products do I need to buy? What will I need to do with the existing 4 wires for the 4-flat? Ive installed a couple harnesses on newer vehicles, but Im nervous that the 4-flat will create a hiccup?

Since your 1984 Ford F-250 already has as 4-way flat trailer connector all you need for the connector is an adapter # 47515. Your existing 4-way will plug into the adapter and the additional blue wire will need to be tapped into the truck's reverse light circuit using the included quick splice wire connector. I've linked a video of the adapter being installed onto a Nissan Murano. The vehicle is completely different but the process is still the same.
