Recommended Trailer Hitch And Bike Carriers For 2011 Toyota Prius

Looking to for a bolt on trailer hitch that will accommodate a bicycle carrier for a 2016 Toyota Prius.

The trailer hitch I recommend for your 2011 Prius is the Draw-Tite, part # 24847. This is a Class l trailer hitch and it has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. I attached a link to an installation video of this hitch you can check out.
For a bike carrier you will be limited to carrying two bikes because it is a Class l hitch. One of the nicer bike racks we offer that will work with the Class l hitch is the Thule Camber, part # TH9058. This carrier weighs less than 30 lbs and can carry two bikes that weigh up to 35-lbs each. To help deter theft we also offer the Snug-Tite hitch lock, part # THSTL2 as a separate item. The tilting feature lets you access the cargo area when the rack is empty.
If you are planning on carrying bikes with alternative frames like kids bikes or women's bikes I recommend using an adapter bar like part # 64005. This attaches between the seat post and the handlebar stem and allows the bike to be carried more level in the carrier while providing additional ground clearance. I have attached a product review video for this adapter bar.
