Adding a 4- and 7-Way Trailer Connector to a 2012 Ford Escape without Factory Tow Package
Question:
Which harness/adapter do I need if putting tow wiring on a 2012 Ford Escape XLT without tow package to then have both a flat 4 pin and 7 pole receptacles?

In order to have both a 4- and 7-Way trailer connector on your 2012 Ford Escape you will need 2 parts. The first part is # 118551 which plugs in line with the vehicle tail light wiring. Once that is installed you can install the second part.
The second part is # ETBC7. The 4-Way plugs into it (and the 4-Way receptacle is retained) and the remaining wires will get hardwired to the vehicle since there is no plug and play 7-Way for your vehicle. I have included some links that show and explain the ETBC7 installation for you.
If you tow a trailer with electric brakes you will also need a brake controller. I recommend the P2 # 90885 because it is easy to set up and use and it is reliable.
