Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Using a StowMaster Towbar
Question:
I am buying a stowmaster towbar used. It has a base plate, model #3116-1. I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited V6. Am I going to luck out and have this baseplate work? If not, what plate will I need and can I buy it separately? Cost? Thank you in advance for your help.

The Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit # 3116-1 you have is for the Chevy Cavalier from 2003 to 2005. Unfortunately, that's not going to work for your 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The baseplate kit that will fit your Jeep and work with the StowMaster Towbar # RM-501 is # RM-521440-4. You can find the pricing on the product page by clicking the link.
Other parts you may need are a wiring kit to power the Jeep's lights, safety cables, a braking system, and a high-low adapter.
To power the Jeep's lights the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 includes the diodes, wiring, and connectors you'll need. To keep the Jeep from overriding the RV's wiring you'll also need a Brake-Lite Relay Kit # RM-88400
For safety cables you can use # RM-643.
Another part you may need is a supplemental braking system. The SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251 is a favorite around here because of how reliable it is and it's easier to install than many other permanently installed systems. I've linked an install video of the DUO on a 2015 Grand Cherokee for you.
Finally, you'll likely need a high-low adapter. I've attached an article to help you determine the correct rise or drop your setup requries. I've also linked our selection of adapters for you to look at once you know what you need.
In addition to my recommendations I've linked some articles on flat towing that you may find helpful.
