Are Optional Risers for RR576 Needed for Poles with 6 inch Diameter Reels on 2012 Ford Expedition
Question:
I have 2012 Ford Expedition EL with factory racks. Would I need the riser kit to have clearance for the reels on my rods, going on the assumption that they will tend to swing down when in the rack. Reels hang down from the rods a max of about six inches.

There are no risers available for ski carrier # RR576. To avoid any mishaps/scratches to the roof of your 2012 Ford Expedition I recommend going with the Thule SnowPack # TH7326. Considering the large size of the reels I do recommend using the risers which comes with some risers. That, combined with the height of the carrier and the crossbars will provide a fair amount of clearance for larger items.
