Best Bike Platform Bike Rack and Tips for Outdoor Storage

Question:

I currently have a Yakima bike rack. It is about 5 years old and unfortunately I have to store it outside. I have it mounted on the side of the house when not in use. It still works but is rusting at critical points so I want to replace it before something happens - like a bike falling off the rack. Unfortunately the squirrels like to chew on the plastic tire cradles as well. I am trying to decide between the Thule Pro and Kuat NV. I have an F-150 and right now I am leaning towards the Kuat since it tilts more, lower loading height and is made of aluminum. Do you have any feedback on which of the two will hold up better when stored outside as this will outweigh the other factors for m e? Thank you for your assistance.

You can't go wrong with either bike rack but I do really like the Kuat NV 2.0 part # NV2G that you referenced as it is basically the nicest bike rack on the market with more features and flexibility than any other rack available. Since the rack has to go outside I would recommend covering it with a tarp or something to protect it from the elements and the squirrels you mentioned. Would also help as a theft deterrent if no one could see the rack.
