Hitch Recommendation for 2017 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen That Does Not Require Stabilizer Strap
Question:
I have 2017 Golf Sportwagen and I am looking for a hitch to use in conjuction with a Yakima bike rack. I have a couple of questions: 1. I see the following notation and dont know what the stabilizing straps are, or where to find them. can you clarify, and/or direct me to a link for those? Note: All non-trailer loads - bike racks, cargo carriers and so forth - should be supported with stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support these loads will void your hitch warranty from Curt. 2. The other question/concern I have is that multiple reviews talk of the holes on the trailer hitch and those on the car not aligning correctly. has this issue been addressed? I appreciate any assistance you can offer. Thank you,

Expert Reply:
Only the Curt hitch for your 2017 Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen requires the stabilizer strap. A better option would be the Draw Tite hitch part # 24949 which is a fit for your vehicle and does not have that requirement when carrying a bike rack.
There hasn't been any issues with the Draw Tite hitch not matching up to the bolt holes of your vehicle. But sometimes hitches will get bent in shipping which throws off the bolt hole dimensions.
