Weight Distribution Shank for 2-1/2 Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver on 2014 Ram 2500

Question:

HAVE A 2014 RAM 2500 4X4. TOP OF RECEIVER IS ALMOST 26. TRAILER TOP OF COUPLER IS NOT KNOWN BUT ESTIMATED TO BE 23. NEED AS SHANK THAT WILL FIT 14K EQUALIZER HITCH WITH SOME ROOM TO SPARE. WOULD PREFER AS 2 1/2inch SHANK BUT YOUR Curt Weight Distribution Shank - 13inch Long - 9-1/2inch 2inch SEEMS TO GIVE THE BEST WIGGLE ROOM. WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND. WANT TO BE SURE SHANK DROPS LONG ENOUGH.

To determine the correct drop you need in a shank you'll want to measure from the inner top of the receiver tube's opening to the ground on your 2014 Ram 2500 and then from the bottom of the coupler to the ground on your trailer. Measure them both when they're sitting on level ground. The difference will be the correct drop you need.

The Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank # EQ90-02-4900 fits a 2-1/2 inch receiver and will provide up to 6 inches of drop. It's also rated for up to 1,600 pounds of tongue weight. From the numbers you provided it sounds like this will be fairly close but you'll want to find the exact measurements before purchasing anything. I've also linked our selection of 2-1/2 inch shanks for you.

The Curt, part # C17124, you mentioned sounds like it will work too but it's for a 2 inch hitch receiver.
