How Many Bolster Bracket Supports Do I Need For A 20 Foot Pontoon Boat Trailer
Question:
Im going to convert a boat trailer to a pontoon trailer by removing the fenders, changing to snowmobile trailer wheels smaller diameter and mounting these brackets to some new cross members. How many brackets on each side will I need for a typical 20foot pontoon?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The number of bolster brackets varies between 4 and 5 on each side for a 20 foot pontoon trailer. I suggest 10 of the CE Smith Bolster Bracket for Pontoon Boat Trailers - Galvanized Steel - Qty 1, # CE10052-32G.
For your bunk boards, I recommend the CE Smith Deluxe Marine-Grade Carpeting - Black - 18' Long x 18" Wide, # CE11349. This will give your trailer a soft landing for your pontoon and minimize scratches. It will resist mold and mildew and dries quickly.
