Front-Mount Trailer Hitch for 1999 Ford Ranger

Question:

I have no idea about this inch 2. Hitch will not fit on models with a front cross-member.inch ...? How can I tell this about my truck? I have a 1999 Ford Ranger, Supercab, 2wd 4.0 L, automatic. I want to carry a 189 lb. dirt bike. I have carrier that i use when I carry it on my rear hitch but I need to find a solution to use so I can pull my travel trailer and carry my motorcycle. Mounting on the rear of the TT is not an option too small of a trailer and would cause major fishtailing and not enough room to mount on my trailer hitch.

The installation instructions for Curt front-mount hitch # C31063, which are linked for you, show that the two mounting flanges for this hitch each have two holes for hardware installation on the mating holes in the frame rails. You can compare the instructions to your Ranger to determine if there is a frame cross member that would block installation. You can also refer to the linked photo which shows this part on a 2000 Ranger.

If you do NOT have the cross member and can install this Curt hitch you'll want to be careful to avoid overloading the front axle. Also keep in mind that engine cooling can be affected by the presence of objects that block air flow to the radiator.
