Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2014 Kia Soul

Question:

I have towed with a Roadmaster Tracker 024702 ball hitch for 16 years on a Kia sportage 2000. We just got a 2014 Kia soul to replace the sportage and want to use the same tow arm. What soul kit do I need. The tow arms attach to a cross safety base plate which then bolted to the standard mounting bracket on the old kia. Please advise

I looked up an online version of our owner's manual to see if there are any restrictions on flat towing your Soul but I couldn't find any information. You should check your manual for any specific instructions before towing.

If your 2014 Kia Soul is a manual transmission the Roadmaster baseplates that will fit are the EZ4 # RM-522114-4. The EZ4 is compatible with your Roadmaster Tracker Tow Bar # RM-020. However, if you have an automatic transmission you'll need the EZ5 # RM-522114-5 which will not work with the Tracker. You will need a new tow bar like the Roadmaster Falcon 2 # RM-520.

If you don't already have safety cables you can use # RM-643. Since they're coiled it helps keep them off the ground.

For lighting you can bypass your Kia's wiring with the bulb and socket kit # RM-155. This way you will not have to cut into the car's wiring.

For a supplemental braking system, the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251 is a great option because once it is installed you never have to worry about again. The system automatically functions when your Kia is hitched to your RV.

You'll also likely need a high-low adapter to keep the tow bar level. I've linked our selection of adapters for you to choose the correct rise or drop that you need. I've also attached an article to help you determine the appropriate rise or drop.
